26 Promotions – Vado, NM – (August 21, 2019) – 2019 has been a trying time for Spencer Hill and SEH Motorsports, but they hope to look back at Saturday night at Vado Speedway Park as the race that turned around their season.

“Sunday wash days are always so much better after ending the weekend on a high note,” said Hill. “It has been a tough year so far for everyone at SEH Motorsports with the loss of founder, Truman West, a few weeks ago. It seemed as if we were going to finally pick up our first win together last weekend at our first race since his passing at Sandia Speedway in the Truman West Memorial race leading my first feature laps in a sprint car but tragedy struck when I hit the tractor tire while battling Michael Fanelli for the lead, tearing up the car and ending our night.”

Redemption was on the mind as the SEH Motorsports team unloaded the J&J Racing Chassis 11w Saturday afternoon in Vado.

Hill kicked off Saturday night’s festivities pulling an eight in pill draw, placing him on the pole in heat two.

“The heat race didn’t quite go our way due to a fuel pump that backed out of its housing, cutting the race short,” he explained. “This would cause us to start the 23-car, 30-lap feature from the 19th position with a lot of work to do in not very much time.”

After surveying the track, the team decided that they didn’t need to change much from the heat race. As the green flag waved, Hill immediately went to work hugging the tires on the bottom of the track and stayed committed to that line for all 30 laps.

Hill worked his way through the field and found himself in the top 10 as a red flag waved around the halfway point. An open red was declared, but Hill didn’t want to make any changes. His only complaint was a slight vibration at low RPMs.

When the race went back to green flag racing, Hill stuck with his game plan working the bottom of the track fighting his way to a top-five finish.

While going through the car on Sunday, Hill found that a spark plug wire was the cause of the vibration and why the car was a little down on power during Saturday night’s feature.

“Sometimes you have to go slow to go fast and that was exactly the name of the game this weekend,” said Hill. “I was damn near stalling the car in the middle of the corner, but it allowed the car to hook up great on corner exit while others blasted the top. Rob (Saline) and Jim (Hill) had the car on rails and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone’s effort after having to rebuild the car piece by piece after work each night this week. Nights like this give you a lot of confidence and I’m super excited to get back to Sandia Speedway this weekend to see where we stand with the NMMRA.”

Spencer Hill would like to thank SEH Motorsports, Grammy’s Kitchen, Dental Temps Staffing Solutions, LLC, Hassell Racing, Wheels Up Wednesday, Bell Racing, J&J Auto Racing, and Performance Plus Racing for their continued support.
