COX HEADS TO KNOXVILLE WITH MOMENTUM AND EXCITEMENT

Inside Line Promotions – HIGGINSVILLE, Mo. (April 25) – Knoxville Raceway is a challenge Justyn Cox is more than ready to attempt.

After competing at the famed ½-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, four times last season – garnering three top-15 finishes – Cox is in a different car owned by a Knoxville regular. The 16-year-old from Clarksburg, Calif., is driving for Brian Brown – the defending 410 Knoxville Raceway champion.

“Brian has proven that he knows how to get around Knoxville and I can’t wait to get some one-on-one lessons from him,” Cox said.

Cox, who hasn’t raced since a pair of stellar performances earlier this month at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., has a strong record at Knoxville and has momentum on his side.

“The program really started to take off a couple weeks ago at I-80 Speedway and I can’t wait to continue the positive direction at Knoxville,” he said. “I had a couple of good performances there last year, but with the knowledge of this team and their background at Knoxville, I’ll have a great opportunity this weekend.”

In his first appearance at Knoxville Raceway – last July 3 – Cox finished second in his heat race to lock himself into the double feature. He then placed 13th in the first main event and 14th in the nightcap.

Four weeks later, Cox won his heat race and drove from 15th to 12th in the Knoxville Raceway feature.

However, a tough qualifying performance set the teenage driver back on his preliminary night of the 360 Knoxville Nationals last August. After qualifying 33rd, Cox drove from seventh to fourth in his heat race. That earned him a bid into the feature, which he finished 22nd in.

“Every position from qualifying to the feature is so critical at the 360 Knoxville Nationals and that put us in a tough position for the main events,” Cox said.

On the 360 Knoxville Nationals finale, Cox drove from 12th to sixth in the C Main, but missed a transfer by only two positions.

This year presents a new opportunity and with momentum and a little luck, Cox is looking for his first career top-10 finish at the most prestigious dirt track.
