Bacon Vies for Another USAC Silver Crown Win after Ultimate Challenge Triumph

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (August 16, 2019) – Brady Bacon’s most recent outing aboard the Klatt Enterprises No. 6 USAC Silver Crown entry atop the central Pennsylvania Williams Grove Speedway clay oval in June resulted in the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native’s first series win.

“The Macho Man” will try to make it two series wins in a row on the dirt with this Saturday’s Bettenhausen 100 at Springfield’s Illinois State Fairgrounds mile oval.

Already with eight overall wins to his credit this season, Bacon has spent the past two weekends competing in Sprint Car action in Iowa.

Along with a return to Knoxville 360 Nationals competition and another round of Knoxville Nationals action, the highlight of the ten-night run of racing was a rousing rally from 26th to win the WAR Sprint Car Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa, Iowa’s Southern Iowa Speedway on Tuesday, August 6.

Bacon earned the pole position for the feature by racing from seventh to win his heat race aboard the BBR No. 99 entry. He then accepted the challenge to race from the tail of the field.

Challenge accepted and challenge conquered, as Bacon needed just 13 of the 25 allotted laps to rally into the lead and collect the $6,000 winner’s share.

Bacon preceded that with a 12th place run in his Knoxville 360 Nationals preliminary night and then a tenth-place finish in Saturday night “B” Main action.

After the Ultimate Challenge triumph, he kicked off his Knoxville Nationals pursuit in strong form by timing in fifth-quickest among the Wednesday night, August 7, field of 53 competitors. After missing the transfer out of heat race action by just one position, Bacon narrowly missed the transfer from the “B” Main and went on to Friday’s Hard Knox card and then finished out the week with a tenth-place showing in Saturday’s “C” Main.
