OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (August 14, 2019) – Returning to form this weekend, the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League splits the slate between the 918 and the 405. Following a Friday appearance at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., the league heads to I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City on Saturday night for the season’s most meaningful race, the Grady Chandler Benefit.
Scheduled to open the weekend at Sapulpa’s Creek County Speedway, the POWRi West combatants will tackle the CCS quarter-mile for the fourth time in 2019 when they take to the track on Friday night. Previous victories have gone to Jonathan Beason of Broken Arrow, Okla. back in April, Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Okla. in June, and Matt Sherrell of Owasso, Okla. in July.
Moving down the turnpike to I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City on Saturday, racers, fans, sponsors, staff and everyone in between will come together for the season’s most meaningful event. A race benefitting Grady Chandler, who suffered severe spinal injuries in a sprint car crash in July, all proceeds from a loaded auction will go towards the Chandler family as they tackle the road to recovery.
The only driver to start all 19 features this season, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. has galloped away to a commanding point lead on the strength of four victories, 10 top-five finishes, and 14 top-ten results. He currently leads Hank Davis (-1,370), Chance Morton (-2,010), Kade Morton (-2,910) and Blake Edwards (-3,150).
