Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2019) – Caleb Helms is rejuvenated as he plans to find the best balance between family, work and racing.

Helms has tackled two of the biggest winged sprint car events – the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, in July and the Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, last week – in his family owned ride.

“I’ve tried juggling everything and racing full time, which doesn’t work,” he said. “I’m not willing to sacrifice my family and I’m very invested in work so that makes racing tough. On the other side I tried to sit out and racing has been such a huge part of my life that I really missed it. My family and I are working on finding a balance to make everything work and I think we have a great plan.”

Helms said he hopes to race in a handful of events this fall in his home state of Ohio while preparing the team for the 2020 season. He anticipates a schedule of approximately 20-to-30 races.

“I think if we get everything set up right we can show up to races we want to and be competitive,” he said. “We’re not able to run 60-to-80 shows and I do think the more a driver races the better he or she can be on a regular basis. But I also believe that if we are well prepared that we can give ourselves a chance to win whenever and wherever we decide to race.”

For now Helms is planning on knocking the cobwebs off this summer and fall after having an off-and-on type of schedule the last couple of years. As he does that he is planning ahead regarding marketing, inventory and the best schedule to fit racing into his busy life.

“It’s all about the balance and making it work right for our family,” he said. “My family and I have never attempted to race at this sort of scale. It’s always been all or nothing so we’re excited to take this next step and keep racing in our lives.”
