Brad Haynes Earns Career First Pathfinder Bank SBS Feature Win in U-Pull U-Save Twin 20 Action

OSWEGO, NY (August 11, 2019) - It's hard to find someone in the pit area as determined as Pathfinder Bank SBS competitor Brad Haynes. For nine years, he has worked tirelessly in hopes of finally visiting feature victory lane. Finally, last Saturday was his night.

In a tremendous last lap battle for the lead, as Haynes avoided disaster when he and second place Anthony Losurdo brushed wheels going into turn one. Haynes kicked the car sideways, but held on to join his brother Bryan as a Small Block Super winner at Oswego.

“This has been a long time coming,” Haynes said. “I told the wife if we won I was going to retire, so I guess we’ll see what the rest of the years brings. I just wanted this one win. I got the heat win and was pumped about that, but this means a ton to me. I’m so happy my family and kids were here tonight to see it

Haynes, the current president of the Oswego County Quarter Midget Club, started on the pole for the 20-lap feature and lead the field into the first corner, but lost the lead to Losurdo heading down the back stretch.

Right away, Haynes found himself in between the two fastest cars all season long, Losurdo in the lead and third starting Dave Cliff who was hot on his heels. Behind them, Jesse Bearup and Russ Bartlett were duking it out for positions four and five.

On lap 5, Cliff was able to get under Haynes for second, but the yellow flag came out for an incident in turn three involving Steve Flack and Travis Bartlett. Both of those cars sustained considerable damage and wound up parked for the remainder of the 20-lap feature.

The early double file restart changed everything. Haynes and Bearup, both on the outside lane, were able to drive around race leader Losurdo to take over second and third. David LaTulip was also able to join the high side hustle, coming out of nowhere to get Cliff for fourth.

Coming to complete lap 6, Losurdo was able to get back under Bearup for second, but still had to catch and pass new race leader Haynes with only fifteen circuits remaining in the shortened main event.

The top five cars remained nose to tail for the balance of the 20-lapper. Each and every lap, Losurdo tried the outside in between turns three and four, but was unable to make it work, having to pull back low to keep Bearup behind him.

Just at the field took the white flag, Losurdo found an opening coming off of turn four. Both leaders touched it in turn one, but Haynes made a tremendous save to hang on to the lead for one more lap and pick up his first career feature win.

Losurdo finished a close second with Bearup third in his first appearance of the season. LaTulip and Cliff rounded out the top five with Bartlett, Joshua Sokolic, Cameron Rowe, Tony Pisa, and James Babcock filling in the top ten.
