Madsen 8th at Summer Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- With the extremely demanding part of the World of Outlaws schedule in full force, Ian Madsen picked up an eighth place finish Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway during the Summer Nationals.

“Williams Grove is one of the toughest places we go to with the locals and the unique shape,” Ian Madsen said. “We had some bad luck on Friday night, went to work on Saturday and really had a much better night and came away with a good finish.”

Timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in 16th fastest in time trials, Madsen would run fourth in a very loaded heat race.

Taking the green flag from the 16th starting position in the feature event, the St. Marys, NSW native would work his way forward until contact while battling for position just outside the Top-10 forced him to the back of the pack.

So tough to make up ground from the back at ‘The Grove’, Madsen would do what he could as he finished 20th.

Working on some stuff with the KCP Racing team on Saturday, Madsen’s Summer Nationals finale would get off to a much better start as he was ninth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, the former Rookie of the Year winner moved into the feature event where he rolled off the starting grid from the ninth starting position.

On a surface that was tough to pass on, Madsen would jump into the eighth position as he chased after the likes of Danny Dietrich, and Lance Dewease.

Staying in the Top-10, Madsen would close his weekend out on a positive by way of his eighth place finish.

“Really happy with how we ended our weekend,” Madsen said. “To get a Top-10 at Williams Grove is a nice shot in the arm heading into Ironman and then the Nationals. Thanks to all the guys for working hard for me this week.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1 Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
