Stewart Snags Second at I-30: Locked into Saturdays Feature
Friday night at I 30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., Shane Stewart piloted his ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T No. 57 to a stout second place finish after starting the 30-lap feature event from the sixth spot.
As the feature event got underway, the lightning fast racetrack saw Shane get past Seth Bergman for the fifth spot. As he began to work on AG Rains for the fourth spot the caution flew on the fourth circuit.
As the race resumed, Shane powered his Lucas Oil Products/Finley Farms/Cross Creek Trucking mount past Rains to grab fourth and then began to put pressure on Gary Wright as the lead pack began fighting their way through lapped traffic.
As the race went 16 consecutive circuits, Shane continued to hold down the fourth spot as he fought threw traffic, with his sights set on Jarrod Hull, who was over taken by Wright. A lap 20 caution put the Palmero Properties/Pro-Bilt Construction/Wesmar powered No. 57 right behind Hull, but as the field got set to go green, Hull came to a stop putting Shane in the third position.
The last 10 laps of the feature, saw a pair of yellows, and a red flag slow down the fast paced event. On a lap 21 restart, the ROCKSTAR/Makita machine lined up behind a lapped Brady Bacon, and as he cleared Bacon the lead duo had raced away.
With the final stoppage coming on lap 25, Stewart was lined up right behind the two front-runners. As the race went back green Shane was able to power his Silva Motorsports entry past Wright into the second spot, where he would go on to finish, and lock himself into Saturday night’s feature event.
The finish marks Shane’s sixth top five finish in the first seven races of the season thus far.
“This place has been pretty brutal to me lately and I’m pretty excited to get out of here with a second place finish and more importantly locking this ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. into tomorrow feature,” said Shane. “Paul gave me a great car tonight, and were going to come out here tomorrow and try to improve one more spot.
