OSWEGO, NY (July 1, 2019) - The second of three events included in Oswego Speedway’s 2019 Novelis Fan Can Chase will take place this weekend as the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Independence Grand Prix takes the green flag.
The can drive will be held right outside of the speedway’s main gates beginning at 4pm and continuing through 5:45pm. All are invited to participate in the Novelis Fan Can Chase, which will conclude in two weeks with the Mr. Supermodified event on July 20.
Through just one collection, nearly 10,000 cans have been turned in by the top five alone, which so far includes Ron Gunther, Lester Smart, Jim Larkin, Gary Rookey, and Fran Vickery. Larkin has been Fan Can Chase champion for the past seven straight seasons.
In fourteen years of holding the Fan Can Chase, over $92,000 has been raised. That money is later donated to organizations including Oswego Renaissance, P-TECH, Oswego County Opportunities, Child Advocacy Center, ARISE, Blessings in a Backpack, and more.
The winner of this year’s Fan Can Chase will again have the opportunity to pick from three prizes. He or she can choose from two 2020 Oswego Speedway regular season reserved tickets, two 2020 regular season pit passes, or two 2020 regular season SkyDeck passes.
Following the winner’s selection, those who finished positions two and three in the Fan Can Chase will have the opportunity to pick from the remaining prizes.
All fans representing households four through twelve will receive a pair of 2019 GA passes to the 63rd edition of Budweiser International Classic Weekend held August 31 and September 1.
Additionally, all households which donate 1,000 or more cans will also earn guaranteed general admission passes for two to Saturday and Sunday of Budweiser International Classic Weekend.
Saturday night’s program at Oswego, which will include extra distance features for the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS and 350 Supermodifieds, is set to be kicked off with a driver autograph session at 5:15pm. Racing will begin at 7:00 with fireworks to follow.
