Herrick Returns To CRSA Victory Lane At Thunder Mountain

For Immediate Release By CRSA Series Announcer/Public Relations – Toby LaGrange

Center Lisle, NY (7/22/19) – The second leg of the SuperGen Products with Champion Power Equipment CRSA Sprint Car Series double header weekend in Central New York took place Sunday night at the Thunder Mountain Speedway. When the final checkered flag waved a familiar face met CRSA Series Announcer Toby LaGrange in victory lane.

Dalton Herrick picked up the 25-lap Country Service Center A-Main win Sunday evening. The event was part of the Wade Decker Memorial held at the track each season. Herrick is very familiar to victory lane at Thunder Mountain as the McDonough, New York driver won the 2018 season finale at the track back in October as part of Brett Deyo’s Short Track Super Nationals.

“I like it here,” Herrick said. “It is the only track that I have won at with a Sprint Car and it is close to home.”

Sydney Prince and Darryl Ruggles led the field to the green with Prince taking the early race lead. The first caution of the event would slow the field on lap 12 when Justin Mills spun in turn two. When racing resumed Prince would hold the top spot over Ruggles and Herrick.

Herrick was on the charge. The eventual race winner would take over second from Ruggles soon after and then set his sights on Prince. Within a few laps Prince would slow heading into turn one, ending her event. The caution would wave on lap 21 for Thomas Radivoy and Jerry Sehn, who spun in turn two. Each were running in the top five at the time.

When racing resumed Ruggles tossed everything but his top wing at Herrick but could not get past. Herrick picked up the win over Ruggles, Jeff Trombley, Jesse Pruchnik and Mike Jackson. Heat races for the 17-car field were won by Radivoy, Prince and Dana Wagner.

The Prestige Pool & Spa Final Finisher Award went to Mark Connoly, the Midstate Basement Authorities First Car Out Award went to Sydney Prince, the Maguire Family of Dealerships Magnificent Move of the Race Award went to Radivoy, the Powder Tech Powder Coatings Hard Charger Award went to Trombley (11th to 3rd) and the Magsarus Ignitions Electrifying Move of the Race Award went to Herrick.
