LASOSKI RELIES ON PATIENCE TO PICK UP FIRST VICTORY

Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (April 4) – Danny Lasoski is as old school as it gets.

The veteran driver hauled more than four hours on Saturday to 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., for the lengthy NCRA season opener, which he won before driving straight home.

“You drive all day to the track, race, then haul home,” said Lasoski, who arrived at his shop in Higginsville, Mo., around 6 a.m. “That’s how we used to do it in old days.

“Running our own car with how we have to do it this year, it’s a great accomplishment.”

It was Lasoski’s first victory and his fourth top five in 10 events this season, but it was anything but easy. On a track that began to take rubber in the heat races and competing in strong winds all night, Lasoski relied on his experience.

“I made my mind up before we went out that I wasn’t going to even step on the throttle until after 15 laps,” he said. “I’m just a firm believer that a smart driver will always beat a dumb driver.”

Lasoski, who started fifth in the feature after winning his heat race, drove into second place on the opening lap. He then followed Luke Cranston on the bottom for 15 laps before making his move. On the 16th round, Lasoski passed Cranston in turn one to take over the top spot, which he never relinquished.

Despite a handful of cautions in the final 10 laps, including several for drivers with tire issues, Lasoski kept a smooth foot and drove away from the field for the win.

“I still could have gone another 10 laps,” Lasoski said after assessing his tires. “It’s great that my strategy worked out.”
