WAR SPRINTS SET TO EMBARK ON KNOXVILLE’S HOLLOWED GROUNDS

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 3, 2019) – Convening upon “The Sprint Car Capital of the World” this weekend, the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League is set to reach a milestone moment unlike any before. From the 2012 inception that saw our roots planted deep in America’s Heartland to now being invited to partake in the inaugural BRANDT Corn Belt Nationals at Knoxville Raceway, it has been a long, but fruitful adventure to this weekend’s historic event.

Established in 2012, WAR’s debut season saw 15 events centered around the state of Missouri. As gradual growth ensued over the coming years, eventually it led to a boom in 2016 when now World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models Series Director, Casey Shuman, and fiancé, Brooke Rowden, assumed ownership of the blossoming league.

WAR’s #RacersFirst mantra was on full display as the schedule welcomed new and enticing race tracks, teams and sponsors found their way on TV with broadcast coverage of events, and purses increased putting money back in the racers pocket. It was an exciting time and it got even better in 2017 when Performance Open Wheel Racing, Inc. (POWRi Racing) began sanctioning the league and global icon, Lucas Oil, came on as the title sponsor.

The 2018 season saw an all-time high in categories of races contested (29), tracks ran (19) and states visited (7), sending the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League to another level of nationwide attention. Now in 2019, the WAR banner boasts a trio of crown jewel events, beginning with this weekend’s BRANDT Corn Belt Nationals.

Invited to partake in this historic event alongside the USAC National Sprint Car Series, this is a race that has had WAR Sprint League competitors buzzing since the news dropped. Racing for an unprecedented purse that includes $20,000 to win and $1,000 to start Saturday’s main event, WAR drivers will have the opportunity of a lifetime to compete on sprint car racing’s biggest stage.

Home to the world-famous Knoxville Nationals, the 360 Knoxville Nationals, and the Late Model Knoxville Nationals, the BRANDT Corn Belt Nationals is simply the newest chapter in a book full of rich racing history and iconic moments that helped define the sport.

As of now, 49 drivers are pre-entered for this weekend’s two-day show slated for Friday and Saturday, July 5-6. Fans can buy tickets for the event at www.knoxvilleraceway.com/tickets or for those unable to attend, you can buy your viewing pass to watch the entire week from the comfort of your home at www.dirtvision.com, where a live broadcast of both nights will be shown.
