Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (July 2, 2019) – Alex Hill earned her best-ever finish at Grays Harbor Raceway during the Fred Brownfield Classic Saturday night with a 12th-place run to cap the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s two-day event.

Hill had a strong run in her heat race as she started fourth and finished third.

“We had a really stacked heat race,” she said. “We ran fourth for most of the race, but were able to make the pass for third late in the race.”

She fell one position short of the feature redraw and began the main event ninth.

“I didn’t get a very good start,” she said. “A car in front of me didn’t take off and a car or two got by me. The track eventually took rubber and I finished 12th.”

Hill’s opening night got off to a difficult start on Friday with a poor pill draw.

“I drew the highest number and had to start last in our heat race,” she said. “We were able to pass two cars, which was actually pretty good since the track was really heavy and tough to pass on. But it wasn’t enough to move us up to a very good starting spot in the feature.”

Hill started and finished eighth in the B Main.

“I was able to gain a couple of spots, but then I lost them,” she said. “I had some difficulty with one of the corners and made some errors. We used a provisional for the A Main, but pulled in after taking the green flag.”

Hill will take a rare weekend off from racing before returning west for the Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., July 12-13.

“I’m looking forward to the Grizzly Nationals,” she said. “It’s a neat event and it’s a nice facility.”
