Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (July 1, 2019) – Kerry Madsen passed 16 combined cars during A Main action last weekend at Jackson Motorplex, which hosted the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals.

“I didn’t get qualified very good both nights,” he said. “On Thursday we made contact in the heat and it dropped us out of the top five. On Friday (in the heat race) we got taken out. I didn’t even see him coming. It junked the race car. We got ran over again (in the A Main Saturday) for the third time in the weekend. It felt like we had a target on our car all weekend.”

Although it was a rough World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event for the KI Crossbows sponsored team, Madsen made up ground in feature competition each night. He won the Last Chance Showdown before rallying from 21st to 13th in the A Main on Thursday. The team advanced four positions after starting last in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday when they were forced to pull down a backup car following a wild heat race crash. Madsen capped the weekend by powering from 23rd to 15th in Saturday’s main event, a race in which he had to restart at the back after contact with another driver resulted in a spin.

“It seems like we can get ourselves good cars in the A Main,” he said. “We’re just not putting it all together. We have the cars in the mains to move forward though, which is good.”

Madsen was the Hard Charger Award winner for passing the most cars in Saturday’s feature.

He is scheduled to make his debut at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., during the Star Spangled Showdown on Wednesday before racing on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.

Madsen has won three of the last four World of Outlaws races at Cedar Lake Speedway. He captured the event finale last year and swept the doubleheader in 2017.

“We’ve run well at Cedar Lake and won some races so that’s a confidence boost for our team,” he said. “We’re looking forward to getting back there and racing at Brown County for the first time.”
