ELK GROVE, CA – It looks as if Mother Nature is going to permit the Northern California racing season to get back to action this coming weekend and Elk Grove’s Billy Strange is ready to roll back into action. Strange is planning on racing in both 410 cubic inch competition as well as 360 competition in the weekend to come.

On Friday night, April 1 there will be no time fooling around as Strange will compete with the best drivers in the nation. The World of Outlaws are in competition at the Merced Speedway and Strange will be making his return to the tour for the second time in a month. Following Friday’s competition, Strange will burn the midnight oil to get ready for 360 competition at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, April 2.

For Friday night, Strange will take to the dirt in Merced for the first time in his racing career. This marks his second appearance with the World of Outlaws in 2011, following his appearance at the recent Mini Gold Cup in Chico, California.

“I’m looking to learn from our race in Chico and take that experience into Merced this weekend,” said Strange. “My goal is to get the car into the feature in this event. If we qualify well and hold our own in the heat races I feel we can do that.”

In the recent event at Silver Dollar Speedway, Strange and his team had a challenging night of racing. Racing on a track that was very adverse due to heavy recent rains, Strange had his share of misfortunes midway into the night which ended up with a collision and a non transferring 13th place position in the evening’s semi main event.

“Up until the collision we were doing well,” said Strange. “I had driven all the way from 17th up to the 8th position before we made contact and fell back to 13th. It was a tough night, the track was very tricky after all the weather.”

On Saturday night, Strange returns to the track he still calls home and the track where his father had a great deal of success back in the day. It’s the opening of Placerville Speedway for the 2011 Red Hawk Casino championship season.

“It’s always fun to go back to Placerville,” said Strange. “This year my schedule has a little bit of everything on it but I still will always call Placerville home. We had a solid year there last year so I’ll come in there with more experience then I did last year.”

Currently, Strange is seeking additional sponsorship for the 2011 racing season. Last year they had a number of marketing partners that supported their efforts in which will return. Among their supporters are Kevin Sharrah Designs, ART Enterprises, Swepco Lubricants, Pronol Race Fuels, High Country Painting and Amerikote.
