URSS SLATED FOR 81 AND LONGDALE THIS WEEKEND

OBERLIN, KANS. (June 17, 2019) - A huge weekend double-header awaits the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing 305-ci sprinters this coming weekend as they head to 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas on Friday night (June 21) and Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Oklahoma on Saturday night. These events are the rescheduled shows from the rainout double-header originally scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.

The URSS will be joined by the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products and both nights will pay $1000 to-win and be series and IMCA national point races.

Two-time and defending tour champion Zach Blurton from Quinter, Kansas currently leads the “Rebel” point standings while Tracey Hill, Brian Herbert, Aaron Ploussard and Jake Martens are the top five in series point standings. Sixth through tenth are Jeremy Huish, Dalton Webb, Ty Williams, Steve Richardson and Kade Hagens.

Jake Bubak leads the series in victories with three, while Luke Cranston has two with Martens, Jason Martin and Todd Plemons have one victory a piece.

The SSO is led by three-time and defending tour champion Andy Shouse from Oklahoma City. Shouse is being chased in the series point standings by Steven Shebester, Cody Whitworth, Tanner Conn, Michael Gossman, Chris Kelly, Brandon Anderson, Duane Baker and Danny Wood.

Saturday night will be the only 2019 appearance between the two series at Longdale Speedway where the track has hosted two previous events. Both tours got rained out in 2018 but it was 2017 when the URSS and SSO met and it was three-time and defending SSO champion Andy Shouse of Oklahoma City getting the best of a twenty-car field. In 2016, twenty-six cars were pit side and it was Ness City, Kansas driver Luke Cranston picking up the victory.

81 Speedway’s hosting of the URSS on Friday night for the second time this season with Martin picking up the season-opening victory back in April. URSS is slated to visit C Ray Hall’s facility on October 5th to close out the season. Gates will open at 4:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:00 PM start time.

The “Sprint Car Challenge” at Longdale Speedway on Saturday night will see gates open at 5:00 PM and racing scheduled for a 7:00 PM start time. This will be the lone appearance on the 2019 race season for both URSS and SSO.
