Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (June 18, 2019) – Joe Trenca earned his fifth top 10 of the season last Saturday during a Patriot Sprint Tour event at Selinsgrove Speedway.
The seventh-place run tied Trenca’s career-best result at the oval. He first achieved that finish in August 2014.
“There was a decent car count with a lot of good cars,” the Mucci Motorsports driver said. “The locals are really tough. We were 11th quickest in hot laps and I knew we needed to be a tenth quicker in qualifying. We were third quick for a while, but I think the track got faster as it went on.”
Trenca qualified seventh quickest. He then placed third in a heat race and lined up third for the A Main.
“We had a red flag on Lap 2 and we broke a left rear shock,” he said. “It was tough. We fell back a few more positions to 11th and then started working our way forward around Lap 16. It was like a bouncy ball on the left rear. I thought we had a left rear tire going down, but it turned out to be the shock.”
Trenca rallied to overcome the problem for the seventh-place finish.
He is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, N.Y., with the Patriot Sprint Tour and Sunday at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y., during the Cole Cup with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
