JACKSONVILLE, ILL. (June 14, 2019) – The second night of the sixth annual Illinois SPEED Week rolls on tonight as the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League and the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micro League invade Jacksonville Speedway. Highlighted by double features, the show will begin with a makeup POWRi National Midget feature from April 28th followed by a new, full program for both divisions.
The home of the first-ever Illinois SPEED Week event, Jacksonville hosted the inaugural race back on June 6, 2013 with Kyle Larson topping the Midgets. The 2014 SPEED Week race was rained out, but since then a stretch of four thrilling features has seen Christopher Bell (2015), Zach Daum (2016), Tanner Thorson (2017) and Logan Seavey (2018) claim SPEED Week victories at Jacksonville.
All in all, Jacksonville Speedway has hosted 34 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget features dating back to 2007. The late Bryan Clauson owns the record for most wins with five triumphs to his credit at the always-exciting quarter-mile. Tyler Thomas, Christopher Bell and Brad Loyet have all earned three victories at Jacksonville, while Tanner Thorson, Logan Seavey and Spencer Bayston have each scored two wins.
In POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micro League competition, Joe B. Miller has been unstoppable in recent Illinois SPEED Week action at Jacksonville. The Millersville, Mo. native has won the last three consecutive SPEED Week appearances at Jacksonville with wins in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In the only other two SPEED Week trips to Jacksonville, Willie Urish won in 2015 and Mike Dicely found victory in 2013, with Miller finishing second on both occasions.
The pits will open at 1:00 PM, driver registration is set for 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, drivers meeting will be held at 5:45 PM, hot laps hit the track at 6:00 PM and racing will follow.
The second round of the sixth annual Illinois SPEED Week takes centerstage tonight with a Friday, June 14 showing at Jacksonville Speedway. A Saturday, June 15 appearance at Macon Speedway will lead into the finale on Sunday, June 16 at Lincoln Speedway.
