Inside Line Promotions – WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (June 12, 2019) – Joe Trenca knocked the 410ci winged sprint car cobwebs off last weekend when he tackled a pair of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races in his home state.

The Mucci Motorsports competitor qualified 11th quickest overall and fifth in his group to open Friday’s action at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y. He then finished fifth in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“We timed decent, better than we have in the 410,” he said. “We were too tight in the feature. It’s a new car and we’re trying to find a balance on it. We missed it a little in the feature. I felt good in the car and we had speed. I wasn’t happy with the result, but it was a decent starting night in the 410 with a brand new car.”

Trenca closed the night with a 17th-place outing.

He returned to action on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway, where he qualified 29th quickest – 10th in his group.

“We were like ninth in hot laps,” he said. “I’m not sure what happened, but I went down into turn one and slid all the way to the wall and almost got into it during qualifying. When we came in it was like the tire had no heat in it. That positioned us terribly in the heat race. Luckily we were good enough to drive from last to fifth.”

Trenca overcame the qualifying woes by rallying from 10th to fifth in a heat race. That locked him into the 15th starting spot for the A Main.

“We were up to 12th and had a caution with about 12 laps to go,” he said. “I just couldn’t get going on the restart. We were on the outside and it took the car a couple of laps to get going. We lost some ground and ended up finishing 16th.

“I felt like we made gains and I know where we need to be as far as the balance with our 410 car. We learned some things and I can’t wait to get back in it again.”

Trenca will return to 360 sprint car competition this Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., during a Patriot Sprint Tour show. He currently ranks third in the championship standings – only 12 points out of the lead.
