Inside Line Promotions – HAMLIN, Pa. (June 11, 2019) – Joey Amantea overcame a frustrating opening night to last weekend by garnering his sixth top five of the season during Saturday’s weekend finale.
The weekend got off to a great start on Friday at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., where Amantea guided his non-wing micro sprint from seventh to fifth place in a heat race. He had a similar run going early in the main event before a mechanical problem ended the night early.
“I went from 13th to sixth in about three laps,” he said. “Then the car started losing power and there was a puff of smoke and that was it.”
Amantea and crew scrambled to get another car ready for Saturday’s show at Hamlin Speedway.
“Saturday was a long day for us,” he said. “We had to get the other car converted. We had a lot of troubles mounting the seat because of the new power steering unit we bought. We didn’t know what to expect with a new motor. It ran pretty well and as the night went on we got faster. It was a fun night and we felt good.”
Amantea advanced from fifth to fourth place and from third to second place during a pair of non-wing micro sprint heat races. He capped the night by maneuvering from eighth to fifth in the A Main.
Amantea will take that momentum into a busy week of racing. He is slated to compete on Wednesday at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa.; on Friday at Linda’s Speedway; on Saturday at Hamlin Speedway; and on Sunday at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J.
