(Bill W) March 15, 2011 – The off-season has been a busy one for sprint car ace Brandon Wimmer in more ways than one. After a successful end to 2010, he has again partnered with the Alan Barton Motorsports Hedman Husler #7TW team heading into the 2011 season. In addition, he was married to Chantel in January. Now, he is ready for some racing, and will embark on his campaign with the World of Outlaws in April.
The Fairmount, Indiana driver plans to join the WoO at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky on April 15 and at the I-55 Speedway in Pevely, Missouri on April 16. “We’re really excited to get going on our season in April,” says Brandon. “Alan and the rest of the team have been working really hard to get things ready. I just got back from the shop in Missouri and we are just about ready for Paducah.”
On April 23, the team will travel to the Salina Highbanks in Oklahoma. Then it will be on to Brandon’s home state Indiana and the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt on April 30. The run will conclude at the Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio on May 6 and 7.
Last season ended well. After qualifying for his first Knoxville Nationals finale in the #7TW, he partnered with Rick Ferkel to win a rare winged 410 show in Bloomington, Indiana, before returning to give a fifth place finish in the Short Track Nationals in Little Rock to the Alan Barton team. “I was really happy with the way the 2010 season ended,” says Brandon. “To do well in two of the biggest shows of the year will give us some momentum heading into April when we are again facing some of the best drivers in the world.”
The remainder of the sprint car schedule will be determined after the run with the WoO. “We’ll see how things are going,” says Brandon. “We definitely want to run the big shows, and we’ll just look at the schedule week to week and month to month to see where we may be running.”
