THIRD TIME THE CHARM FOR WEST MIDGETS AT I-44 ON SATURDAY

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (May 31, 2019) – Hoping to put a spring season swarmed with rain outs behind them, the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League looks for the third time to be the charm on Saturday night as they trek to I-44 Riverside Speedway. Previously scheduled shows at the Oklahoma City facility on April 13 and May 18 were rained out and has led into this Saturday, June 1 race.

With six of eight events completed as a co-sanction alongside the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League, the West competitors are anxious to get their own battles in. A pair of April races at Creek County Speedway and Port City Raceway are the only POWRi West solo shows in the books thus far.

Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Missouri holds a commanding lead atop the point standings entering the month of June. A former POWRi National Midget champion back in 2012, Felker has taken a step back to focus on the business of side of things, but found a new opportunity with Chad Shields Racing for 2019. In eight races, Felker has piloted the Hyper No. 44S to four top ten finishes, two top five results, and a victory at Port City.

Oklahoma City’s Trey Marcham trails Felker by 440 points, National superstar Logan Seavey sits 510 points out of the lead, Hank Davis of Sand Springs, Oklahoma is behind 650 points in fourth, and Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Oklahoma is currently fifth and out 710 points.

Pit gates are slated to open at 3:00 PM on Saturday with hot laps hitting the track at 6:00 PM and racing to shortly follow. The grandstand gates will open at 5:00 PM with admission priced at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/veterans, $10 for teenagers, $6 for kids 6-12 and pit passes at $30.
