Inside Line Promotions – JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 29, 2019) – Jack Dover recorded his third top-five finish of the season last Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway.

Dover and the rest of the Midwest dodged rain throughout the weekend. Friday’s race at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, rained out, but fortunately the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints show on Saturday was able to be contested.

Dover opened the event by finishing second in a heat race, which was good enough to earn a spot into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 6 to start the main event on the outside of the third row.

“We were leading in the heat and the engine started smoking and smelled like burning oil about halfway through,” he said. “I took it easy and ended up losing a spot. We came in and checked the engine out and it turned out the oil was overfilled.

“On the first start of the feature we got up to third going into turn one. We were really fast. They had a complete restart and on the second start we got up to second going into turn one, but a car clipped us and spun us around. We had to go to the back.”

Dover overcame the early incident to rally from the back to a fourth-place finish. His strong run gives him an eight-point lead in the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings.

“I always wish I could win,” he said. “To have a run like that and be as fast as we were it’s a pretty good feeling. We turned a bad night into a good night so we’ll take it.”

Next up is a pair of Midwest Power Series shows on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Saturday’s event is also a Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event.

“I feel pretty good about Jackson,” he said. “It will be a little harder this year because I think we’ll have more competition, but I still think we have a good shot at winning.

“At Knoxville we’ll keep trying stuff until we get more comfortable. I can’t get the car to rotate very well on the top side.”
