Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (May 28, 2019) – Jordon Mallett climbed into the top 10 in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings following a pair of top-10 runs last weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway.

Both nights during his first-ever visit to the oval mirrored each other as Mallett maneuvered from fourth to third place in a heat race, which started him midpack in the A Main.

“It makes the whole night feel that much more smooth when you can lock yourself straight in and you don’t have to worry about the B Main,” he said. “It takes the pressure off and you can settle down and concentrate on what you need to do to have a good car for the feature.”

Mallett powered from 13th to 10th in the main event on Saturday, marking his first top 10 with the series this season.

He followed that performance by maneuvering from 12th to 10th in the feature on Sunday.

“It helped a lot of things in terms of proving that we’re fine and we’re close,” he said. “We need to refine a few things, but when you get used to winning or running top three you have to mentally adjust that if we can be a consistently top-10 car we’re doing what we need to do. Consistency is key in these type of deals when you’re running for points. We were pleased with two top 10s.”

The weekend followed the trend of improvement for Mallett, who is embarking upon his first season with the ASCS National Tour. After missing both main events during the season-opening doubleheader, Mallett improved his result during the second doubleheader before cracking the top 10 both nights last weekend in the third two-day affair.

“I feel like we’re going in the right direction,” he said. “We have things settled down to where we need to be. We look forward to continuing on and hopefully continuing to keep improving.

“Last weekend I realized more who we can race aggressively with and who to race smart against. I’m learning more of the competition. That transitions more into confidence.”

Mallett capped the holiday weekend by making a huge donation of bottled water to a nearby area of Missouri that was recently ravaged by a tornado.

“Thanks to all of our family, friends and sponsors,” he said. “After the race on Sunday we drove to Jefferson City and donated 114 cases of water to tornado relief. I think it was over 4,000 bottles of water. We’re grateful for everyone supporting it.”

Mallett’s next race is this Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, during the opening night of the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek. It will mark his debut at the track.

“I look forward to it,” he said. “I like to be in the seat so the more racing the merrier. I’ve done Speedweek deals with other series. I feel confident about it.”
