PLACERVILLE, CA (3-9-11) – The office of Handy Racing Promotions regretfully has been forced to cancel this Saturday night's "Play Night" that was scheduled to take place March 12 at Placerville Speedway.
Although the sun is due to be shining this weekend, this cancellation is due to the act of Mother Nature. Once again, run off from the heavy rains have caused a natural spring to erupt out of the hillside near the fourth turn of the speedway, eroding the track conditions on both the surface and much deeper.
Work crews have begun working to modify the underground drain system to rectify this latest issue. However, due to heavy saturation of the earth below the track surface excess drying time is needed before heavy use of the track. Placerville Speedway plans to be ready for action next week on March 19 for the opening round of the 2011 Civil War Sprint Car Series.
Note: Marysville Raceway Park is hosting a play day this Saturday, March 12 which offers an alternative to the Placerville Speedway cancellation. For further information on this event visit their website www.marysvilleracewaypark.com.
