Park Jefferson Speedway Jefferson, South Dakota (May 25, 2019)— Mother nature has not been kind to the speedways across the midwest as cancellations continue week after week but fortunately Park Jefferson Speedway was able to host their first 360 sprint car race of the year. A co-sanctioned event with the Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series and our series took to the track for the 2nd time this year. It was a battle between the north and south with 27 teams coming from Nebraska, Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, and South Dakota.

Jason Martin, from Lincoln, Nebraska, dominated the event after multiple yellow flags added some help, on his side, and allowed him to stay out of lap traffic. “The top of the race track went off the race track over there in 2 and coming off of 3 and 4. It was really cool thinking back of the days I use to race at home in Liberal, Kansas and running race tracks like this, we use to spank their asses every night! Nights like this make it pretty cool. Coming off the track in turn 4, there is a little moisture and I could just drop the hammer but the car tries to drive into the fence because the wind is sucking the vortex off of the wing so you have to be careful.” When asked about being on a new team, Jason replied, “ The first night out we ran third and thought this was going to be cool. We struggled at I-80 and with the recent rainouts, we’ve had a lot of time to talk about stuff and get this figured out. They never give up on me and they’re happy and positive all of the time. I happy to be driving this Nickell Construction 82 car!”

The Saldana Racing Products pole sitter of Elliot Amdahl and second place starter of Jason Martin led the field to the green flag. It was Jack Dover who sliced his way, incredibly, to 2nd place by turn two after starting 6th. All that was forgotten as the yellow flew and Seth Brahmer came to a stop, in turn 2, after something in the rear end broke side lining him for the evening.

After a complete restart, the green flag flew and Jason Martin rocketed to the lead but Jack Dover spun, in turn 2, bringing the yellow out and put him to the rear.

Another complete restart was just like before as Jason Martin jolted to the lead with Dusty Ballenger in tow. After 5 laps, Martin led with Dusty Ballenger in second, Amdahl in third, Jody Rosenboom in fourth, and Tyler Drueke in fifth. Jason Martin also encountered lap traffic by lap 5 as he kept a 10 car lead over Ballenger. The yellow flew on lap 6 as the pole sitter of Elliot Amdahl, who was running third, spun in turn 4 bringing out another yellow.

Jason Martin brought the field to the green as Tyler Drueke took over third from Jody Rosenboom in turn 2. Rosenboom had company as Brant O’Banion took over 4th from him. With 10 laps down, Martin still led followed by Ballenger, Drueke, O’Banion and Rosenboom. A great battle ensued between 6th place running Lee Grosz and fifth place running Rosenboom but the two collided coming out of turn 4 allowing Rosenboom to continue and Grosz coming to a stop on the front stretch. Lee Grosz would go to the pits.

With 11 laps down, Martin brought the field to the green as Tyler Drueke took over second from Ballenger going into turn 1. Martin extended a lead of 10 cars over Drueke and Drueke was 8 cars ahead of third running Ballenger. Drivers began searching for moisture low and high as the mid part of the track began to darken. The yellow flew as Travis Reber spun in turn 2 but kept the car going.

With 7 laps togo, the green flag flew as Jason Martin resumed his great starts. Rosenboom took over fourth from O’Banion with 6 laps togo. With 4 togo, Martin held about a 12 car lead over Drueke and he continued with that lead until the end pocketing $1500 and a win!
