Inside Line Promotions – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 23, 2019) – Scott Bogucki admits he made some driving mistakes in his first-ever competition in the state of Michigan, but the weekend produced some good finishes and knowledge for the Australian driver.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour ventured to I-96 Speedway last weekend, spending a doubleheader at an event that drew a great car count.

“It was a new track for me,” Bogucki said. “I’ve never ran on anything like that. I made some mistakes and we had some bad luck, but overall it was an okay weekend.”

On Friday, the SawBlade.com sponsored driver charged from seventh to fourth in his heat race and he dominated his qualifier.

“We were okay in the heat and made some adjustments and we were really, really, really good in the qualifier,” he said. “I made some mistakes in the feature. The car wasn’t great, but it was good enough to get a better finish than eighth in the feature.”

Bogucki’s eighth-place outing put him atop the ASCS National Tour championship standings.

Saturday began with a blown rear end in the SawBlade.com backed machine. Bogucki didn’t finish his heat, but he charged from ninth to third in a qualifier to lock into the A Main. He capped the night with a 12th-place finish.

“We blew the rear end in hot laps and thrashed to get the new one in,” he said. “We missed getting the cable in right and it came out of gear in the heat. I had to start at the tail of the qualifier and I got to third. In the feature I missed the bottom on the start and spun. We went to the work area and changed a tire and it we went from 13 inches of stagger to 10, but I was still able to come from the tail to a 12th-place finish so it was an okay weekend.”

Bogucki, who sits fifth in the championship standings, spent this week organizing and cleaning the truck and trailer getting ready for a three-race weekend which he hopes to kick off Friday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, before heading to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., with the ASCS National Tour on Saturday and Sunday.

“I learned from Jason Johnson that you need to have the trailer and truck organized and clean if you want to compete,” he said. “We’re hoping the weather holds out for this weekend. I’m really looking forward to getting back to Lake Ozark. Last year we had a shock issue, which I discovered the following week. Knowing what that issue was and getting it corrected has me pumped up for this weekend.”
