Logan Forler

Inside Line Promotions (March 7) – It didn’t start out very well, but it sure ended nicely for Logan Forler.

The 17-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., overcame an inauspicious start on Wednesday with the World of Outlaws at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After blowing an engine in hot laps, and then breaking a steering box on the opening lap of his heat race, Forler snagged the final transfer position in the B Main and drove from 24th to 14th in the feature.

“It was a rough, rough start, but we kept battling,” Forler said. “After changing engines following hot laps, we were literally putting the last zeus (fastener) on the car when we were pushed off for qualifying. Then, the steering box broke early in the heat race.

“However, we started getting it figured out late in the B Main and that carried over to the feature.”

A similar destiny played out for Forler on Thursday. Forler finished last in qualifying, which then started him deep in his heat race.

“We were chasing the track all night and trying to figure stuff out,” Forler said. “I’m just not a great qualifier and that set us behind the eight-ball early.”

Forler started the feature 23rd and worked his way up to 12th before a mistake on the last restart relegated him to a 15th-place finish and another Hard Charger Award with arguably the top 410 sprint car series.

“I just made a slight mistake on the restart and was shuffled back,” Forler said. “All in all, we’re pretty happy with the two nights. It’s pretty cool to show the progress we did and to get a pair of Hard Charger Awards with the World of Outlaws.”

Forler’s next race is tentatively scheduled for March 25-26 at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, with the ASCS National Tour. Forler is second in the ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year standings and 13th overall.
