Taylor Continues Hot Streak With Runner-Up Result

Inside Line Promotions – CALHAN, Colo. (May 15, 2019) – Zac Taylor has not finished outside of the top three during his first three races of the season.

That includes his recent runner-up result – despite a damaged steering part – last Saturday at El Paso County Raceway during only his second career non-wing sprint car start. Two weeks ago Taylor scored his first-ever non-wing sprint car win at the track and last week he drove to a third-place finish in a Grand American Modified on asphalt.

“This is an incredible start to the year, especially when you consider I’ve never driven a non-wing sprint car and have very little time in an asphalt modified,” he said. “I hope that continues this week in the midget.”

Taylor began last Saturday night by charging from third to a heat race win, but the redraw placed him eighth on the feature starting grid.

“The car was great and I immediately got to second,” he said. “The car was a rocket and I could go anywhere to pass cars. Somewhere I bent the drag link and the car drove like a bus. We had a caution with like three laps to go so I moved my line, but it wasn’t enough.

“The track was rough and that’s all we can figure as to what happened to the drag link. We talked to Triple X and they sent us a new steel part. But once again we were the hard charger and got a top-three finish so it was a great night. Dad said we need a new rear end and I told him that with money we’ve made being hard charger and another great run the car will take care of that.”

Taylor will return to the seat of Todd Henry’s midget along with piloting the family non-wing 360ci sprint car this Saturday at I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, Colo.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the midget,” he said. “The experience I’ve had driving the non-wing sprint car will make me better in Todd’s car. And I’m really getting comfortable in the sprint car. My dad and Todd work well together and can figure out setups quickly.”
