Mallett Excited for Home Track Opportunity This Saturday at I-30 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 7, 2019) – Jordon Mallett has a much easier drive to the race track this week.

Mallett, who is embarking upon his first season on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, lives only 45 minutes from this Saturday’s track – I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

“We always look forward to racing close to home,” he said. “We haven’t got to spend a lot of time at home since we’ve been traveling the last few years. Since the ASCS National Tour will be there it’s exciting to be home in front of all our fans and we look forward to putting on a good show.”

Mallett has made two visits to the quarter-mile oval this season, registering a top-five result during his season debut.

“Our first race in our equipment we should have won,” he said. “We led until about six laps to go. We had a tire seal over and we slipped back to fifth at the end. We know we have the speed we need there.”

The close trip is needed after last weekend when Mallett and the ASCS National Tour ventured to Pennsylvania. Mallett said it was a 17-hour drive each way for his team as it made its debut in Central Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, Friday’s race at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg rained out and Saturday’s show at Selinsgrove Speedway was cancelled because of rain just before the A Main. Mallett had advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race and was scheduled to start ninth in the main event.

“It was a neat experience all around,” he said. “I had seen a track before that I’d ran in South Carolina that was in my eyes bigger as far as straightaways, but in reality Selinsgrove was fast all the way around. It wasn’t slow through the corner and high speed on the straightaways. It was fast all around. I was tickled we didn’t miss a beat. Our car was fast from hot laps on. It was definitely one of the fastest places I’ve been to. Being in Pennsylvania for the first time was pretty cool because that’s a bucket list type of thing.”
