Mother nature is moving in quickly. Lightning can be seen in the distance. The radar shows bad weather heading right for us. Let's try it.
Most 600s had already pushed into trailers. And even some had changed out of racing suits. To our surprise, there was time. We were going to try for features.
600s on the track. Slight delay as the drops began. It eased up and they enter the racing surface. Isaiah Garcia & Kyle Jones lead to the green. Only to be called back for a jump. Back stretch, caution. Then red. As Randall Traylor finds himself collected & into a flip. Driver checks out okay. Back to it. Kyle Jones out front. Johnny B Boland sneaks in & gets it Runs to the front. Jacob Lucas works the high side & is knocking on the back door in 2nd. Mother nature is back, lightly. Laps are being docked. Lucas on the inside snags the lead. The track is slicking off in wetness. Lightning is moving in. We make it 1/2 way. Rain gets heavier. Lucas moves to the top. Coltin Corbin finds himself spun on the front stretch. Driver returns to the field. Boland rolling the bottom. Lucas begins to walk it out front. Call is made. 12 laps down. White flag & checkers. Lonestar officials issue we are done due to safety. Jacob Lucas rolls through the Driven Performance Midwest victory lane! Lucas rolls through for a quick picture from his car. The roof is starting to fall out of the sky. Everyone straight to the trailers & pulled right into them. Water is coming down! The rest of the races have been called a "rain out"!
Thank you to all that joined us for our double Header weekend! Especially to the Restrictor drivers, crews & parents for sticking it out last night in hope to race. We apologize you were not ran earlier in the night. We tried. As not only series owners, we are parents of racers too. We apologize for having all of your kiddos as the last class. We tried. As always, we appreciate you all coming along & racing with us!!
