Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 23, 2019) – The Swindell SpeedLab sponsored sprint car team scored its fourth straight top-10 result last Saturday after making a last-minute decision to invade Knoxville Raceway.
Inclement weather forced the team to change plans and head west for the season opener at the half-mile oval. NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Christopher Bell qualified 11th quickest during qualifying to open the night for the No. 39.
“We weren’t as good as we needed to be in qualifying,” team owner Kevin Swindell said. “By the end of the heat race we were good. We needed the first five or six laps back in the heat and we could have moved forward.”
Bell finished fourth in a heat race. That ranked him 14th in overall points and lined the team up on the outside of the seventh row for the main event.
“We had something happen with the steering early on,” Swindell said. “He never really had power steering the whole time so he could only run 75 or 80 percent being on the safe side. Otherwise I think we were going to be pretty good in the feature.”
Bell hustled to a 10th-place finish.
He and the team will return to action this Sunday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series before competing with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ on May 10-11 at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio.
