FRIDAY’S WAR RACE AT TRI-CITY POSTPONED TO AUGUST 30

GRANITE CITY, ILL. (April 18, 2019) – Due to heavy rains throughout the early portion of Thursday along with steady showers forecasted for Thursday night and into Friday, track officials have made the call to postpone the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League event scheduled for Friday, April 19 at Tri-City Speedway until Friday, August 30.

Following a whopping four consecutive rain outs at US-36 Raceway (3/29), Eagle Raceway (3/30), Springfield Raceway (4/13) and now Tri-City Speedway (4/19), the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League season opener moves to Spoon River Speedway this Saturday, April 20. Marking the second appearance in WAR history at the Canton, Illinois facility, the only previous showing at Spoon River came in July of 2017, won by Chris Windom.

Although Friday’s cancellation certainly shines some gloom on the weekend, a glimmer of hope remain with the rescheduling of Tri-City creating a tripleheader in the summer swing. WAR’s inaugural event at Tri-City will open the weekend on Friday, August 30 with another first-time visit on Saturday, August 31 to 34 (Iowa) Raceway and the capper on the tripleheader at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway on Sunday, September 1.
