The POWRi Align Pro Lonestar 600's presented by No Limits Graphics were looking forward to a speed filled night at I-37 Speedway. Until the dread rainout call came in. Due to severe winds & on coming weather the track felt forced to close out the night. As the Lonestar 600 series owners sat on the side of the road, trailer in tow, to update all racers. An idea came in from another racer. Call Texana Raceway Park, they are racing tonight.
The call took place. With in 45 seconds of the question at hand, with out hesitation. They said, "Come on! We will take ya!" Cheers broke out & the transition took place! We're going racing!
We arrived at the newly renovated facility without disappointment. The sun was out & the wind was blowing! Track surface looked awesome. We were ready for a great night of racing.
24- 600s & 8- Restrictors checked in to the minute racing location down in Edna, Texas.
Restrictor Heat Winner- Christopher Townsend. 600s Heat #1 Winner- Oscar Aguilera. Heat #2 Winner- Jacob Lucas. Heat #3 Winner- Mike Walling.
Restrictors feature out first. These gals & dudes had the work cut out for them. The cold front has blown in. The wind was howling. Dust was swirling. Race car sail boats crossed the minds. Taking them to the green was Landen Zakalowski & Jayton Brown. Landen jumped to the lead. The top 3 stayed tight. Landen, Townsend, Brown. Each inching closer. 5 laps to go. Townsend made his move. Slide job, got it. Next corner, Landen slid back. Like a dance recital played out in each corner. They slid. Townsend planned the last slide & it stuck. Top 3 stretched out just a bit. Christopher Townsend parked his #6 ride in the Driven Performance Midwest victory lane!
"600s, it's cold. It's time to warm up." Maverick Elkins & Jayton Brown led the full field to the green. Elkins jumped out front. Field tight behind. Colton Corbin in 2nd. Jayton Brown in 3rd. 5 laps down. Elkins hits a infield tire & spins to the infield. Preston Perlmutter has entered the top 3. Working like a smooth cat, he climbed in. Perlmutter snags the lead. Corbin knocking on the door. Brown spins & found himself at the tail. The Moeller brothers, Blake & Brandon, scoot into top 5. Corbin trying every move in the book. Perlmutter sticking strong & holding like a rocket. White flag. Last shot. Preston Perlmutter prevails. Capturing his very 1st Lonestar win. Gave a nice donut round up in turn 3. Parked his #42P ride in the Driven Performance Midwest victory lane.
