Inside Line Promotions – ORANGEVILLE, Pa. (April 10, 2019) – Joey Amantea lit the fire on his 2019 campaign last Saturday at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks aboard both his winged and non-wing 600cc micro sprints.
"It was good to get the season rolling at Greenwood Valley," he said. "The competition is always top level there and it makes things tough every time you show up, but I like that."
Amantea was originally scheduled to start the season last Friday Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., but the early April weather didn't cooperate and pushed his season opener back another day.
Amantea pulled double duty on Saturday at the bullring, where he won a heat race in both divisions he competed in to garner solid starting positions going into the feature events.
Amantea advanced from sixth to fourth place on a tricky track in the non-wing main event and he also gained a pair of positions to post a fifth-place outing in the winged feature. The two top fives leads the team forward and gives them many reasons to be excited for 2019.
"The track was really tough to pass on with the competition level as high as it is," he said. "Single-file restarts made the starts about the only time I did any passing. But it was a good result, something to build on going forward."
Amantea looks to ride that momentum into a visit to Linda’s Speedway this Friday.
"This season is all about consistently getting good finishes," he said. "This weekend I look to earn another top five and stay in the points hunt at every track we visit.”
