Kaleb Johnson to Make 2019 Racing Debut Saturday at Boone Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (April 1, 2019) – With last weekend’s scheduled season opener in Nebraska canceled due to weather, Kaleb Johnson has adjusted his racing schedule and now plans to make his 2019 debut this Saturday at Boone Speedway in Boone, Iowa.

“I noticed Boone was paying $1,000 to win a 305 race and that kind of caught my eye,” he said. “I figured that since we couldn’t race last weekend, we’d go this weekend instead of taking it off. The weather is looking quite a bit better and we’re anxious to get back to racing.”

Johnson had a strong run in his only previous visit to Boone Speedway.

“We raced there two years ago,” he said. “Since it was our first time there we didn’t know what to expect. I spun out on the first or second lap of the feature and restarted at the back. We were able to come back and finish second. It would be nice to improve on that by one spot this time, but we mainly just want to get our first race in.

“Boone is a pretty neat little track. It’s interesting, with long straightaways and tight corners. If it gets a couple of grooves it can be a really great track for sprint cars.”

A stout 2018 season and a crew with another year of experience give Johnson confidence in a strong start to this season.

“We usually seem to take a couple of weeks to get going,” he said. “We have more experience this year. We’re running the same cars, shock package and motor as last year and have a pretty good base setup for our 305 car so that definitely helps a lot.

“My crew is more experienced. Dillon Sampson and Peter Ignaszewski have been with me since I’ve started. Mike Blomstrom is helping us, too. We’re a pretty young team, but we get stuff done. We learned a lot last year about what works for our car and what doesn’t work. We feel confident that we can start out strong.”
