Trey Robb Picks Up Opening Turnpike Challenge Victory

Sapulpa, Oklahoma – Starting outside the second row, Trey Robb survived an eventful 20 laps to pick up his first career POWRi Engler Machine & Tool feature victory. Hailing from New Castle, Oklahoma, Robb’s brother Gage started on the pole of the feature event after earning high point honors. After two complete restarts ensuing from carnage involving the 2018 POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Champion, Harley Hollan who went for a tumble down the backstretch, Gage Robb was able to get out front early while the field behind him sorted out and fell into line.

As the laps picked off, Trey Robb worked to close the gap as he closed in on his brother, picking off Noah Key and bringing Riley Goodno with him. With only a handful of laps remaining, Trey Robb, Goodno and Joe B. Miller pushed past Gage Robb. As the laps wound down, Trey stretched out his lead to a sizeable command, while Joe B. Miller ran out of laps to mount a charge for anything better than third, still an impressive run from thirteenth. Kaylee Bryson took fourth, while Gage Robb finished fifth.

“We had a great car tonight,” commented Trey Robb. “My dad couldn’t be here tonight. It’s the first time we’ve been on the road without him. We’ve been on the phone with him all night and he pointed us in the right direction, which ended up with us in victory lane. I’d like to thank Select Coatings, Outlaw Wings, Schure Built Suspension, Adam’s Performance, without them we couldn’t do this.”

“Just trying to get around Robb and we finally did when he slipped up there in four,” stated Riley Goodno. “I’d like to thank Boss Chassis for making a great car and Nathan Benson Motorsports for putting these chassis and engines together.”

“It’s good to start the season off like this,” said Joe. B. Miller. “We started pretty deep and it’s just tough to pass when the track is like this and the micros get strung out. I’ve got to thank everyone that helps. It’s just us on the road this week. And without all of our sponsors this wouldn’t be possible.”
