Kicking off the 2019 with new cars, new driver, a few new crew members - was a success! Putting the new DRC cars on the track at practice on Thursday night confirmed that the combination of Austin and The Moose Crew will be a stout combination. Working on getting Austin comfortable with the car & crew is the main objective.
26 cars arrived at Canyon Speedway Park for the 1st race of the USAC/CRA series and with the National Series not under way yet, there were several names not common to the series, McDougal, Hodges, Schuerenber, Chappel, made the already stout field even tougher. Qualifying 10th on Friday night's opening event, running 3rd in the heat secured the 92's direct transfer to The Main. Predicting the track would dry out, the changes made to the car weren't all together beneficial - but Austin wrestled a tight car to come home in 8th place.
Saturday night the qualifying clock clicked Austin off in 4th overall - lining up in Heat 1 - that was stacked with hard hitters, Austin made a last lap, turn 4 pass to make the direct transfer to The Main. Coming home in 7th and feeling that The Team was honing in on what the DRC car likes and how it responds to changes.
Moose Racing could not enter into this 25th year of car ownership without the dedication of an awesome Moose Crew, and the support of so many:
