Inside Line Promotions – LAS VEGAS (March 4, 2019) – Kraig Kinser rebounded from a pair of incidents during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery to record a 15th-place finish in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series finale.

“Qualifying put us back a little bit,” he said. “We had to start deeper than we’d like. On Wednesday we struggled in the heat race, but on Thursday we got through.”

Kinser qualified mid-pack both nights at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas. He finished where he started – seventh – in a heat on Wednesday before rallying from eighth to fifth place in the Last Chance Showdown. That was only one position shy of transferring into the A Main so he took a provisional to start the main event. Unfortunately, Kinser was involved in an early crash that resulted in a DNF.

“I hit a tire getting into a turn and it knocked the front end out,” he said. “It turned me sideways and I hit a rut and got upside down. It was a mistake on my part.”

Thursday ended on a better note for Kinser, who charged from eighth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the main event. He quickly rallied into the top 10 before he was caught up in an incident on a restart.

“We were looking pretty strong and were solidly in the top 10,” he said. “On a restart the track tightened up on us. We got up into a rut and it bounced us around.”

Kinser came to a stop during the incident and he was forced to restart at the back of the field. However, he rallied to finish 15th.

“When you’re trying to find positive stuff it helps, but it was a tough two races for us,” he said. “We’re looking forward to creating some momentum in California this week.”

Kinser is slated to compete on Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., with the World of Outlaws.

“It’s a tricky track,” he said. “Some nights you’re running against the wall and other nights it’s smooth and slick. It’s a tough little track.”
