Swindell SpeedLab eSports Team Brings Stacked Team to Marquee iRacing Events

Inside Line Promotions – AVON, Ind. (Feb. 25, 2019) – Competitive video gaming has quickly rocketed into the mainstream in recent years, captivating attention from both gamers and watchers.

It’s no longer only about those interested in competing as teams have been formed with sponsors on board. Fans can watch live events as the online world has aligned closer to simulations of the real world. Sports has risen as one of the leading competitive video gaming modes and the eSports portion is expected to surpass one billion dollars in revenue in 2019 according to research from Newzoo.

Kevin Swindell has ushered Swindell SpeedLab into the online world as the Swindell SpeedLab eSports team was formed a few months ago. The team selected six drivers to primarily compete in dirt racing events via iRacing – a popular auto racing online simulation game that is renowned for being as close to the real life experience as possible.

“The world of gaming is growing exponentially,” Swindell said. “We see it as a marketing avenue, but it’s also been a big part of my life and is a big tool to help up and coming kids, too.”

Chase Cabre, who is a member of the 2019 NASCAR Drive for Diversity class and who competes in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, heads a list of the half-dozen Swindell SpeedLab eSports team drivers. Adam Elby, Matt McKinney, James Edens, Brennan Rogers and Cole Cabre are also key members of the team.

Chase Cabre scored three top fives and six top 10s in eight iRacing sprint car pro series starts last year.

Elby earned one feature win, two top fives and three top 10s during sprint car pro series events as he placed 10th in the championship standings in 2018. He led 31 feature laps to go with 28 laps led in the late model ranks. Elby was victorious during the first World of Outlaws event at Eldora Speedway. He also placed 10th in the VLR Kokomo Classic.

McKinney won a late model race and garnered a pair of top fives in both the late model and sprint car pro series as he placed sixth in the championship standings in each division last year. He also led 31 feature laps in sprint car competition and 24 in late model action. McKinney is a multi-time Miniville track champion.

Edens produced a trio of top fives and six top 10s en route to a third-place finish in the 2018 sprint car pro series standings. He added a pair of top fives and three top 10s in late model pro series races. His biggest triumph of the year came during the $1,500-to-win Labor Day Classic in the late model division.

Rogers is the 2016 Jackslash Invitational champion. He also garnered the Sim Pro Tulsa Shootout title in 2016 and finished second in the Sim Pro Chili Bowl that year.

Cole Cabre led the team during its first official event together – the Chili Bowl Nationals online race – last January. Cabre was the feature winner with Chase Cabre placing third, Edens sixth and Elby 10th.

Swindell noted that five of the team drivers will compete in the World of Outlaws iRacing series for both the sprint cars and late models. Each series welcomes some of the top online racers in a 10-week battle.

“Running the online simulations like iRacing helps you transition quicker to real world racing,” Swindell said. “I used it for visual cues and things like that at race tracks. When I was running the sim stuff wasn’t as fancy as it is now. Now you have guys spending a couple of days a week in sims that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. They are able to simulate it enough to get setups and other essentials.”

The transition from online to real world has been showcased as several iRacing champions have been offered opportunities to race in both the sprint car and late model divisions on top of many professional drivers in NASCAR and IndyCar among other series spending dedicated time in online simulations to prepare for real world situations.

“We’re excited to be involved in eSports because it’s a great tool for marketing as well as development,” Swindell said. “As the drivers continue to compete on iRacing it will help hone their skills and hopefully lead them to more opportunities in the real world. At the same time as they are successful in events, like winning or running well in the Chili Bowl, it brings a lot of eyes to the Swindell SpeedLab eSports team since many of these marquee events are broadcast online with fans watching. That adds to the marketing and gives opportunities for sponsors to come on board just like in our real world race team.”

The Swindell SpeedLab eSports team is currently looking for marketing partners along with interested racers with a specialty in online pavement competition. For more information, email Kevin@SwindellSpeedLab.com.
