Inside Line Promotions – BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2019) – Mason Daniel’s best moment during the DIRTcar Nationals came on Friday when he made the main event on the opening night of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series 2019 campaign.

“That was a huge confidence boost and was an important step for our team,” he said. “Making the main event allowed us to gain 30 more laps on the track. We filled the tank full of fuel and I was able to experience the car in the circumstances of how an A Main plays out at that track.”

It was both a confidence and comfort bump of momentum following a pair of similar results during the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions portion of the event at Volusia Speedway Park. Daniel qualified seventh quickest in his group both Wednesday and Thursday and he came up just shy of transferring into the main event through the heats each night. A seventh-place run in the B Main on Wednesday and an 11th-place outing in the B Main on Thursday ended each night.

“Right now it’s important to gain as much seat time and knowledge as I can in the 410s,” he said. “Qualifying is separated by such a thin margin that it doesn’t take much from starting up front to being in the back of a heat. I felt like each time we hit the track throughout the week I got more comfortable and learned.”

Daniel timed in 16th quickest in qualifying on Friday during the World of Outlaws season opener. It marked his career-best qualifying effort with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’ A fifth-place run in a heat race locked Daniel into the main event.

“That was a great feeling and we learned a lot in the feature,” he said. “I didn’t finish with a great result, but running all of those laps was a great opportunity. It was something that I think will help me when we come back next year.”

Daniel’s final race of the weekend came on Saturday when he timed in 26th quickest in qualifying before he placed ninth in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown. Sunday’s event finale rained out.

Daniel will make his 360ci winged sprint car season debut this Thursday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., during the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s. It will mark his debut at the track.

“I’m excited to see how we are getting back into a 360,” he said. “We ended last year with our first two 410 races and have started this year with six 410 races in a row. I think it will slow everything down to get back into the 360 this weekend. Plus, it’s always fun to race at a new track.”
