2018 Carpletland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank Banquet, Omaha, Nebraska (January 25, 2019)— It was a season of highs and lows for the men and women of the series, but it was Jack Dover who conquered the season and became series champion for the third time in the last 4 seasons. Jack compiled an astounding 7 wins, 15 top 5’s, 17 top 10’s in 19 feature starts. It was an extremely rough start for the Springfield, Nebraska driver with wing issues plaguing his early start with the series. Things all began to settle when Jack had one of the best weekends of his career at the Jackson 360 Nationals in Jackson, Minnesota. He took home just north of $14,000 in the weekend event adding 2 wins to his totals and capping off a final win with the series the following weekend at Junction Motor Speedway.
Jack Dover wasn’t the only champion crowned in 2018 as Jason Martin took the I-80 Speedway Championship pocketing $2500 for his efforts. I-80 Speedway and Nickell Construction of Lincoln, Nebraska made this all possible working together and putting the money to make this happen. Six races were scheduled at I-80 Speedway and the highest points total in these six races crowned us a track Champion. With three events falling to rain and a rescheduled event giving us four races, Jason was able to pick up 2 wins and finished in the top 5 in the other 2 events. Jason also went on to finish second is series points ending an up and down year for the Lincoln, Nebraska driver.
New to the series threw many for a shock as series president, Dennis Parker, unveiled the “Bobby Parker Rookie of the Year,” a tribute to his late father and open wheel legend! The first full-time series woman driver, Shayle Bade, surprised many as she took her talents from a 305ci sprint car to travel full-time with the series in a 360ci sprint car. Her talents didn’t go unnoticed as the young lady from Lincoln, Nebraska shined throughout the 2018 season finishing 4th in series points, 4th in the Nickell Construction I-80 points championship, and those efforts crowned her the Bobby Parker Rookie of the Year presented by SSS Motorsports! She finished with 3 top 5’s, 6 top 10’s, in 13 feature starts. She was awarded $500 for the rookie of the year honor and this was all made possible from SSS Motorsports and Luke Cochran.
