Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (January 31, 2019) The 2019 Season is fast approaching, and the season’s lineup of events, rules, payout, and point’s structure has all be posted.
The first round of the coming point’s season will be March 30, 2019. Leading up to that, a trio of practices and two special events will greet fans and racers. The Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League will hit the track on March 21, followed by March Madness with OCRS, Sooner Limited Modifieds, and Wester Outlaw Pure Stocks on March 23.
There are 24 Fast Five Weekly points races on the 2019 lineup, along with seven events with the American Sprint Car Series, USAC Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma, and POWRi Midgets. The Lucas Oil NOW600 presented by Tel-Star Technologies is also on the lineup five times.
Overall, there are 44 nights of racing on the 2019 slate.
One change that was made during the 2018 season will continue in 2019 with a paid membership at the track no longer required to run for points. As long as the driver submits a valid W9 form and competes, that driver can race for a championship. To be eligible for point fund and contingencies, a driver must compete in at least 70% of the season’s schedule and be in the Top 10 in the final point standings.
Regarding rules, the Factory Stocks have received a makeover in order to help build the class and be more like Factory Stocks rather than Limited Late Models. The rules were adapted from Red Dirt Raceway and Thunderbird Raceway.
The Modifieds will remain under USRA rules with Dwarf Cars also remaining unchanged.
In Mini Stocks, the engine rules were updated to allow easier use of engines as long as the engine used is for that manufacture (Ford to Ford, Chevrolet to Chevrolet, etc.).
The Champ Sprints saw subtle changes with the implementation of full-size top-wings that follow ASCS rules, with the exception that no wing sliders are allowed. The only other change is to the muffler requirements that no inserts are allowed and the Schoenfeld 112535 or 14272735-78 is the required muffler in order to compete.
Rules regarding the Oklahoma Mod600’s are in the works. All rules can be found online at http://www.creekcountyspeedway.co/rules/
Fast Five Weekly Series admission will continue to be $10 for adults. Youth 11-14 will be admitted for $6 and kids 10 and under get into the grandstands for free. Pits will stay at $30 (under 10 years of age is $15). Special Event prices will be posted to the Creek County Speedway website, as well as Social Media. Spring and Fall events will open at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M. During the Summer, Hot Laps will move to 7:30 P.M. with Racing at 8:00 P.M. (CT)
