INDIANAPOLIS, IN (January 7, 2019) – The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint Car League’s 2019 schedule announcement has been hindered by a couple final dates that are currently still in the negotiation phase between League Director, Casey Shuman, and the respective track promoters. The 2019 schedule’s official release will take place the week of Chili Bowl Nationals (January 14-19).
2019 holds many exciting changes and opportunities for the steadily growing WAR Sprints. New racetracks, an improved Championship Payout (points), a balanced schedule, and a shift in staffing are upcoming changes for the year.
WAR League Director, Casey Shuman has accepted a position with the World Racing Group (WRG) as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Director. Shuman will continue his association with the WAR Sprints throughout the 2019 season while honoring his commitment to WRG.
“I am honored to be part of the World Racing Group,” said Casey Shuman, “I will be honest. I have wrestled with this decision. I do not want to leave behind what my fiancé Brooke, our on-site team of workers, Kenny Brown and I have worked so hard to build since we took over WAR in 2015. So, we will stay heavily involved in the WAR scheduling, promoting, and race night procedures moving forward. I hope this decision can be received well as it is a once in a lifetime chance for my family and I. 2019 will be another wild and hectic year, but I am beyond excited to take on the challenge.”
Shuman will be on site for the 2019 POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprints events when his travel schedule allows. When he is not there, his fiancé and WAR Pit Steward, Brooke Rowden, will be present as well as POWRi’s National Midget League Competition Director, Jason McCord, making a handful of appearances.
Shuman and his team look forward to honoring the 2018 Champions at the POWRi Awards Banquet January 26th, at the River Cities Casino in St. Louis, MO. There will be a general meeting for the WAR owners and drivers that afternoon at 3:00 PM CST to discuss the 2019 season rules, formats etc.
