Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2018) – This year was a trying one for Brandon Hanks, who was sidelined at different times because of mechanical problems as well as an injury.

“It was really tough to get into a rhythm because we didn’t get to race very often and then we’d have long periods away from the track,” he said. “Our luck wasn’t very good either so it was really one of those years you can’t wait to get behind you.”

Hanks started off the season as strong as he ever has, capturing a top-five result during the 8th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout hosted by 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. A week later he placed eighth and fifth, respectively, during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals hosted by Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.

“We were on Cloud Nine after the first couple of races,” he said. “We were competing for top fives and top 10s against some really good drivers and in some big events. That was a huge confidence boost.”

While the remainder of the year was mostly spent battling a couple of pesky mechanical woes and a foot injury Hanks sustained at work, he posted a handful of top-five results. His best run was a runner-up finish in July at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn.

Hanks also finished third at Double X Speedway in California, Mo.; fourth during a USCS Series Speedweek race at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.; eighth during the famed Hooker Hood Classic hosted by Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.; and 10th during the LOS Spring 360 Sprint Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.

“I want to thank Scott Brown and Terry Steward, Cody Miller and Chris Chappue for giving me an opportunity to race for them this year as well as my family for their support,” Hanks said. “I’ve never had a problem finding motivation, but after this year I’m as motivated as ever.”
