Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen closed his season by scoring a top-10 result on Saturday evening at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
Madsen, who was driving a second Muddy sponsored entry for CJB Motorsports during the World of Outlaws World Finals, opened the marquee World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event on Thursday by qualifying sixth quickest in his group for Friday and second quickest in his group for Saturday.
Madsen finished where he started – second – in a heat race on Friday to make a dash. He then ended sixth in the dash to line up on the inside of the sixth row for the A Main, which was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of curfew.
“In the Saturday afternoon feature we lost some spots by the end,” he said. “Early on we were going okay and seemed to make some ground. Restarts didn’t go our way and we didn’t have a good rhythm going at the end. I was disappointed to lose some spots at the end.”
Madsen ended with a 13th-place finish.
The season concluded that evening as Madsen placed second in a heat race and second in a dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the main event.
“The first 14 laps we were running fourth and the top four were nose to tail in traffic,” he said. “I was thinking we were looking good, but we weren’t strong enough on restarts. I didn’t capitalize and lost spots so unfortunately we dropped at the end. We had a left rear tire shrink really bad so that was probably the cause of why our restarts weren’t as good.”
Madsen held on for an eighth-place result.
“Thanks to everyone at CJB Motorsports for the opportunity the last couple of weeks,” he said. “When you jump into a new team like that, you know it’s great equipment, but it will take some time to get on the same page. Every time we hit the track we were quicker. We were getting up to speed quickly.”
