Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (October 15, 2018) While three nights of racing remain on the 2018 lineup of events at Creek County Speedway, this Saturday, October 20 is for all the marbles at the Oklahoma quarter-mile oval.
Championship night at Creek County Speedway just ahead of the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling will see who walks away with the all the glory in this year's Fast Five Weekly Series.
Keeping things tight going into the final points paying weekend, Factory Stocks and Mini Stocks both have the top two positions separated by under 50 markers with Austin McSperitt leading Jimmy Owen by 49 in Factory Stocks. In Mini Stocks, it's Leroy Burger by 41 over Michael Longacre. With the potential to make up 105 points in a given night, that actually puts Justin Melton (-77) and Kevin McSperitt (-87) in the running for Mini Stock glory.
Travis Ashwood by 94 looks to hold off Bailey Hughes in Champ Sprint action. Despite not having won a race all year, Ashwood has used consistency to stay atop the points with four top-five finishes and 17 top-tens in 21 A-Feature starts. Hughes, with almost double the top-five runs and a win, only has 11 top-ten finishes and 20 A-Feature starts.
For the Modifieds, Chad Davis needs only sign in to clinch the 2018 championship. Without taking a competitive green flag lap, should Kendall Shultz win, Davis would still hold the top spot by two markers.
Paul York, on the other hand, has it easier than that in Dwarf competition. With a 174 point gap on Jason Miles, York will enter Saturday's affair as Champion.
Admission on Saturday, October 20 is $10 for adults. Youth 11-14 get in for $6 and kids 10 and under get into the grandstands for free. Pits are $30 (under 10 years of age is $15).
Gates open at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M.
