Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (October 12, 2018) – The most recent of Brady Bacon’s nine triumphs on the 2018 season took place atop the ½-mile Terre Haute Action Track.
Bacon will try to make it back-to-back THAT wins with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car series on Friday night.
It kicks off a three-race weekend that rounds out with winged World of Outlaws competition on Saturday night at Terre Haute and then Eldora Speedway on Sunday.
Friday’s card marks a return to USAC Sprint Car action after last weekend’s double at Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway and then Kansas City, Kansas’ Lakeside Speedway both fell victim to rain.
Last weekend’s washout didn’t leave Bacon sitting idle though, as he made a last minute redirection to Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway for his first Short Track Nationals since 2012. It resulted in an eventful weekend that included Hard Charger efforts on Friday and then record tee-shirt sales on Saturday after a heat race skirmish.
After racing from sixth to second in Friday night heat race action, Bacon was unable to advance from fifth in his qualifying race. Bacon went on to win his “B” Main and then charged from 16th to seventh for the feature’s top passing performance.
An amplified Saturday night Short Track Nationals atmosphere landed Bacon in a stout heat race in which he ultimately was crashed by another car.
As the crowd cheered Bacon on and went through the entire tee shirt inventory, Bacon charged from 13th to capture the third and final transfer position in “C” Main action and then worked his way from the tail of a “B” Main only to miss the feature cut by just two positions.
