26 Promotions – Queen Creek, AZ – (October 10, 2018) – Jesse Baker produced his third podium finish of the season at Arizona Speedway on Saturday.

Saturday’s action began with Baker starting on the outside of the front row in his heat where he would finish second on a locked down track. Baker earned enough points to make the eight-car feature redraw, drawing the one to start on the pole for the 25-lap feature.

“I was watching the mains before us, and it looked like the track was starting to dust off, so we tightened the car for the main,” he explained. “On the start, I jumped out to the lead, and I wasn’t exactly sure where to run because the bottom looked good, but I felt like the top was faster. Then a caution came out with about six laps completed and on the restart my motor stumbled, and that allowed the second-place car to get a good run on me going into turn one allowing him to get under me.”

Baker continued to run the high side, unaware that the bottom was the preferred line as the laps clicked away.

“We fell back to third, and then I moved down to the bottom at both ends of the track,” he said. “We were able to keep pace with the leaders, but we were never in a position to try and make a pass on them.”

Baker’s third-place run gives him four top five and 12 top-ten finishes on the year. He currently sits second in ASCS Southwest Region points, 20-points out of the lead with three races left.

Baker will be in action on Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park with the ASCS Southwest Region.
