Treasuring Tri-State!
On Saturday, The Big Game Treestands #7 team headed to a track that's no stranger to Dollansky, Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana where 'The Crowd Pleaser' had won 2 of the last 4 contests and finished in the top ten every year since 2004.
With 33 sprinters in the pit area it didn't take Dollansky long to find his groove at the 1/4-mile as he posted the fastest lap in qualifying with a time of 11.616 seconds and the 1st Fast Time Award of the season. "It was good to start the night out with quick time which put us in a good position for the rest of the night", commented Dollansky. In the first heat race the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim started outside of row two and finished 4th to earn a spot in the dash race. Being the fastest qualifier meant the dash race inversion would determine Dollansky's starting spot in the 8-lap event. With the six pill inversion drawn, Dollansky gaining a couple of positions in the race and finishing 4th.
Set to do battle on the highbanked bullring, the Karavan Trailers #7 lined up 4th for the A-Main. After a caution on lap 5, Dollansky used a strong restart to work past Dale Blaney and into third. Working the low line, 'The Crowd Pleaser' moved into second position just before the midpoint of the race and set his sights on leader Donny Schatz. Dollansky continued to close the gap on Schatz and would use a strong run off of turn 2 on lap 22 and power into the lead. The #7 would set sail the remaining 18 laps as even a few cautions with three laps to go wouldn't deny Dollansky the checkered flags as he went on to his 4th victory of the 2010 season. "From the start of the night we had a great car and got better as the race went on", said Dollansky who picked up his 3rd win in 5 attempts at Tri-State. "It was my first night with DJ Lindsey as my sole crew chief and I'm just happy to be back together with him. We had been doing some testing with some different components going into next year and we feel good about things and know where we want to go for next year. It had been awhile since I had a car working like that and fortunately we were able to capitalize on it."
When asked about what it takes to win Dollansky is quick to note the great support that surrounds the #7 team. "I'm happy for the entire team to get a win, we got a good team here starting with our car owner Tod Quiring of Big Game Treestands to Scott Boyd of Karavan Trailers and Paul Johnson of Aggressive Hydraulics. We're going down to Charlotte with everything we got to finish the year out strong and hopefully get a couple more wins!"
The World of Outlaws schedule takes a couple weeks off before all eyes turn to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the season-ending World Finals November 4-6.
